Software Engineer, iOS (Platform Product)
Circulate all forms of value to unleash the potential in all people
"What can I do to help society thrive with the finite resources we have?" The Mercari marketplace app was born in 2013 out of this thought by our founder Shintaro Yamada as he traveled the world. We believe that by circulating all forms of value, not just physical things and money, we can create opportunities for anyone to realize their dreams and contribute to society and the people around them. Mercari aims to use technology to connect people all over the world and create a world where anyone can unleash their potential. For more information about Mercari Group’s mission, see

Team mission and expectations of the role
- We are looking for a professional iOS engineer to to take ownership from planning through development for Merpay’s new payment and finance services, based on the company’s mission of “building trust for a seamless society.”
- At Merpay, multiple iOS engineers are assigned to each domain and drive their respective domains forward. In this position, you will leverage deep expertise in iOS app development using Swift, collaborating with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and QA/Test engineers.
- As part of the Merpay Platform, you will work on developing core product features (such as identity verification, bank integrations, and our internal server-driven UI infrastructure), as well as features to drive growth initiatives.
- In addition to feature development, you will also focus on improving quality, testing, automation, and stabilizing releases, actively improving the developer experience.
- In the future, we welcome engineers who are willing to proactively work beyond traditional role boundaries of an iOS app engineer, including working across Android, Web, backend, or even into roles such as product management or QA.
- We are strongly promoting an AI-native approach. At the same time, we place great importance on ensuring we never compromise correctness, security, privacy, or user trust. Rather than whether AI tools are used, we value the ability to properly validate outputs and take full responsibility for quality in development.
- You will work in a diverse, global environment with team members from various backgrounds, including English speakers. While perfect English proficiency is not required at this stage, we welcome those who are comfortable working in English.
- We encourage and value external contributions such as:
- Speaking at domestic and international conferences such as try! Swift and iOSDC
