About the Role

You will own the mobile ecosystem, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable and highly performant in demanding environments, and you’ll bring AI into both the product and the way the team builds it. Beyond hands-on coding, you will drive technical excellence by mentoring junior engineers, championing effective use of AI development tools, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align mobile features with broader business objectives. Your work directly impacts the reliability and efficiency of high-stakes security operations for thousands of professional users.

What You’ll Do

• Design and maintain robust Android applications using Kotlin and Java to support complex security workflows.
• Build intelligent, AI-powered mobile features, such as on-device image and text recognition, smart data capture and predictive workflows, using tools like ML Kit, TensorFlow Lite or Gemini Nano.
• Integrate cloud-based AI and LLM APIs into mobile experiences where they add real value for field users, with attention to security, privacy and offline reliability.
• Use AI coding assistants (such as GitHub Copilot, Claude or Gemini in Android Studio) to accelerate development, testing, refactoring and documentation.
• Collaborate with design, backend and QA teams to deliver scalable features that meet business objectives.
• Mentor junior developers through technical guidance and consistent code reviews, including best practices for reviewing and validating AI-generated code.
• Optimize application performance and security to ensure reliable field use in varying network conditions, including efficient on-device model performance.
• Implement modern Android frameworks and tools to improve system architecture and user experience.
• Refine development workflows and engineering processes with AI-driven automation to increase delivery speed and code quality.
• Work full-time hours overlapping with Eastern Time to coordinate with the engineering team and ensure seamless project integration.

What You Bring

• 4+ years of professional Android development experience.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and familiarity with Java.
• Extensive experience with Android Jetpack libraries, such as Navigation, Room, Hilt, CameraX and ML Kit.
• Hands-on experience building or integrating AI/ML features in mobile applications (e.g., ML Kit, TensorFlow Lite, on-device models or LLM APIs).
• Daily, practical use of AI coding assistants, with the judgment to review, validate and improve AI-generated code.
• Strong understanding of Clean Architecture and MVVM design patterns.
• Expertise in Kotlin Coroutines and asynchronous programming.
• Proven track record with REST API integration, unit testing and integration testing.
• Experience managing Google Play Store submission processes and adhering to Material Design guidelines.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Bitrise or GitHub Actions, including AI-assisted automation in build and release pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud services like Firebase (including Firebase AI Logic / Vertex AI) or AWS for mobile application support.
• Knowledge of mobile performance profiling and optimization techniques, including on-device model optimization (quantization, model size and latency trade-offs).
• Experience with Gemini Nano or other on-device generative AI capabilities on Android.
• Understanding of privacy and security considerations for AI features handling sensitive operational data.
